In order to provide product to best serve our customers' needs, Smiths Interconnect listens to feedback provided by the market. In the case of the KVPX, feedback from our customers has indicated decreasing the insulator height on the backplane connector would provide greater ease in error free mating, particularly in applications where guide hardware is utilized. Therefore, we are making a permanent change to the insulator; dimensional change illustrated below.
This update will be made as a 'running' change, with the part number remaining the same. Insulators with the existing design shall be consumed until the updated tooling has been qualified. At this time, connectors will begin using the newer design insulator. We are currently estimating the cut over to occur in the February - March, 2018 time frame. All attempts will be made to include one version per shipment.
