Helping with the victims of Hurricane Harvey
Hurricane Harvey has left behind devastating losses in its wake. FEMA Director Brock Long called Harvey the worst disaster in Texas history. The Weather Channel says Harvey, "...may end up being one of the worst flood disasters in U.S. History." People have no homes, no clean clothing, and no food. The shelters in the Houston area are at, or nearing, capacity and approximately 7,000 evacuees are being sent to Austin to be sheltered. Our neighbors in Houston, La Grange, Port Aransas, Rockport and all along the coast need our help in this time of need. Kensington Electronics believes that 'our thoughts being with the victims' is just not enough and we want to do what we can to help our friends and family here in our home state of Texas.
Therefore, Kensington is proud to announce donations to The Central Texas Food Bank and to the Texas Diaper Bank to help provide food and diapers to those who have lost so much. Additionally, Kensington's employees are coming together as a group to volunteer at the Central Texas Food Bank warehouse to help sort food and make relief boxes. We hope that our Vendors and Customers will join with us to show our love and support for everyone effected by this catastrophic event. #HurricaneHarvey #HelpforHouston #HarveyFlood #TexasStrong
About the Central Texas Food Bank (www.centraltexasfoodbank.org)
Central Texas Food Bank works with food donors across the country, financial supporters and volunteers to fill unmet needs in Central Texas. This commitment from private, government and charitable partners has allowed us to bring 31 million meals to our community last year and into the hands of families and local nonprofits that turn to us for help. There are three key ways we do this.
- We share free food and our knowledge on low-cost, healthy eating with families in need. Learn how we stock their shelves, provide healthy meals and educate.
- We assist families who qualify for federal assistance programs. Learn how we connect families to life-enhancing resources.
- And finally, we make food affordable for charitable and government partners. The quality food and food resources we provide means that they can spend their limited resources to enhance their programs. Learn how we strengthen community services.
We are a registered 501(c)(3), which means that we are not a religious, political or advocacy organization.
We believe there's strength in numbers and in working together. We are members of Feeding America and Feeding Texas (formerly the Texas Food Bank Network). Our service territory includes: Bastrop, Bell, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Coryell, Falls, Fayette, Freestone, Gillespie, Hays, Lampasas, Lee, Limestone, Llano, McLennan, Milam, Mills, San Saba, Travis and Williamson counties. Roughly 250 Partner Agencies have joined us to serve families in 21 Central Texas counties at soup kitchens, food pantries, after-school programs, snack programs and other service sites.
A leader in the fight against hunger for nearly 35 years, our mission is to nourish hungry people and lead the community in the fight against hunger.

About the Texas Diaper Bank
Established by ten local United Methodist Churches in San Antonio, Texas, in 1997, the Texas Diaper Bank has been working to meet the basic needs of vulnerable babies, children with disabilities and seniors. The organization's mission of: to address the diaper gap and its impact on individuals in crisis has led the organization to provide a continuum of basic needs services combined with educational opportunities that strengthen a family's self-reliance.
Texas Diaper Bank Mission: To address the diaper gap and its impact on individuals in crisis.
Texas Diaper Bank Vision: To eliminate the diaper gap in Texas.
The Texas Families Cluster of Care program model is a series of programs that provides access to diapers, incontinence supplies and other goods through direct services and in partnership with other non-profit agencies. Our partner agency model is unique in that the Texas Diaper Bank assures that partner agencies receive a monthly supply of diapers and other goods, so that they can provide a continuum of services and have real impact.
We are a proud partner of the National Diaper Bank Network, a program partner of Methodist Healthcare Ministries, and a United Way agency (#675).
