New Release: JB12 Series (M12 D-code and X-code) Compact Waterproof Ethernet Connectors for Industrial Use
Introducing the new JB12 Series, M12 D-code and X-code, compact waterproof Ethernet connectors for industrial use. This connector series allows for highly reliable shielded connections, as well as flexible connections of shielded wires of various thicknesses. Its compact size meets industrial design requirements where space is limited.
Robots, automated equipment, and the like have been introduced in great numbers in manufacturing facilities for the sake of factory automation, and demand for advanced networking within factories has increased. As industrial equipment become more compact, they become increasingly more complex in design. With the incorporation of machine vision cameras and the like, wiring spaces in the interior of the equipment have become limited.
JAE has developed and released the IEC standard compliant (*1) JB12 Series (M12-style X-code and D-code (*3)), compact waterproof Ethernet (*2) connectors to meet these industrial equipment design needs. These products are screw-mating connectors with lengths in the shortest class in the industry among various alternate in-line connectors, allowing them to be installed even in constricted spaces within industrial equipment.
Features
- Compact, waterproof jam nut type in-line connector
- Allows for highly reliable shielded connections, as well as flexible connection of shielded wires of various thicknesses
- An expanded crimp termination range for X-code, AWG #22 to #30
Applicable Markets
- Robots

Spring Probes - Stable and Durable Signal Integrity
Spring probes, featuring IDI technology, are designed to optimize performance in high reliability, multicycle applications. Spring probes are compliant which makes them ideal for blind mate applications as they selfcorrect for x, y, z, rotational and angular misalignment of the target. Offered in compressed heights less than 2 mm and utilized on pitches as tight as 0.4 mm, they are well suited for high density, board-to-board, battery contact and high frequency applications. Spring probes provide reliable electro-mechanical performance through hundreds of thousands of cycles. They are available in a variety of sizes, spring forces and terminations. Smiths Interconnect compression mount connectors utilizing spring probe technology offer tremendous advantages in reliability, performance and efficiency in comparison to conventional technologies like stamped metal, wire mesh, pin-and-socket or elastomer. Standard spring probes offering includes battery contact and connector probes designed to optimize contact performance in high-reliability, multiple-cycle interconnect applications.
Spring probe connectors are compliant on the surface of their mating half, rather than extending into it as with conventional pin and socket connectors. This bestows spring probes with unique blind-mate capabilities.
A spring probe connector may be designed to engage at a 90o angle to its target, wiping into position to clear contaminants. Conversely, the connector may be disengaged in the same way, at any angle, making probe technology the best approach to quick-disconnect applications.
Spring probe technology permits a very high compliance-to-length ratio. This allows Smiths Interconnect to design connectors as dense as 2mm, while maintaining 0.5mm of compliance. Spring probe connectors are low profile designs which are forgiving of challenging mating conditions and vibration environments.

Smiths Interconnect's spring probes feature several innovations for control of DC performance. Advanced biasing techniques provide excellent stability of contact resistance, even under conditions of heavy shock and vibration. Our connectors can be designed to withstand up to 30 Amps of current.
Spring contact probes are capable of remarkable longevity from 20K to 500K cycles based on design. Our probes are driven by helical coil springs, which maintain a constant force of contact over millions of cycles. Our extensive plating and materials knowledge combined with engineering expertise delivers contacts that exceed the highest customer specifications for insertion life.
Smiths Interconnect's application expertise and the durable nature of our contacts permit us to design connectors with excellent performance in harsh environments. IP68 and MIL810 requirements can be accommodated without sacrificing performance.
